Professor Li Qi’s quest for knowledge begins with a movie called Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story. The inspirational story of the heroine in the movie who, despite all odds, dreams big and finally realizes her dream to study at Harvard has deeply touched Professor Li, who was then running an English training center in Beijing. Professor Li was inspired to chase her dreams steadfastly. Finally, in the spring of 2012, she got an offer from Harvard Kennedy School.
When she was studying at Harvard, due to the lack of business teaching cases in the Chinese context at that time, Professor Li cooperated with tutors at Harvard to write teaching cases related to Chinese enterprises for Harvard Business School. With outstanding experience in scientific research and practice, Professor Li was successfully admitted to the doctoral programme at Cornell University.
Now, Professor Li serves as an assistant professor in management at SME. Her passionate class teaching can always be seen. The role of “professor” gives her a sense of mission of “serving the people.” Professor Li is responsible for teaching Case Study and Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility. “Through the two courses, I hope to bring students technical know-how, different perspectives to see problems, and the ability to think about their root causes.” Professor Li hopes that students can consider and find solutions to problems and comparatively analyze the different effects of different solutions from the perspective of decision-makers. “My students will become leaders of different industries in the business circle. I hope they can consider different stakeholders and problems from various perspectives when making decisions and find a solution in the best interests of the majority.”
