Activity Review
In the late autumn season, with the refreshing autumn breeze, on the afternoon of November 17, 2024, the Inaugural Meeting of the Joint Alumni Association of SME&SFI of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) School of Management and Economics and Shenzhen Finance Institute and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Alumni Gathering officially kicked off on the university campus. Nearly a hundred alumni witnessed this momentous occasion of the establishment of the SME&SFI Joint Alumni Association.

SME&SFI Joint Alumni Association
The SME&SFI Joint Alumni Association of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) School of Management and Economics and Shenzhen Finance Institute (hereinafter referred to as the SME&SFI Alumni Association) is an alumni organization initiated by enthusiastic alumni under the guidance and supervision of the Alumni Association Secretariat, School of Management and Economics, and Shenzhen Finance Institute of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). Under the overall coordination and guidance of the school and college alumni affairs offices and college leaders, the alumni association preparatory team actively promoted various preparatory works. After months of efforts, a large number of outstanding alumni enthusiastically joined the association. On November 17, the SME&SFI Joint Alumni Association was officially inaugurated.
The SME&SFI Alumni Association is dedicated to uniting alumni from various grades and programs of SME&SFI, providing a communication platform rich in resources, diverse opportunities, and an international perspective for alumni.
On the afternoon of November 17, the bright banquet hall welcomed SME&SFI alumni. They left group photos and blessings at the sign-in area and chatted about the present and ideals in the tea break area. In the venue, everyone greeted each other cordially, communicated friendly, with continuous laughter and a warm atmosphere.
Opening Speeches
Welcome Speech by Professor Wang Cong
At the inaugural meeting of the alumni association, Professor Wang Cong, the Acting Vice-President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), delivered a welcome speech. He welcomed alumni back to the campus and shared the vigorous development process of the school over the past ten years, emphasizing the importance of building a friendly communication platform for alumni, and promoting the inheritance and development of the SME&SFI concepts and beliefs among successive generations of students and alumni.

Welcome Speech by Professor Ai Chunrong
Professor Ai Chunrong, the Associate Dean of the School of Management and Economics and the Associate Dean of Shenzhen Finance Institute of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), gave an opening speech. He introduced the recent development of the college, shared his understanding and expectations of the alumni association: He hoped that alumni could provide cross-disciplinary and cross-field experiences and insights to junior students, and also hoped that alumni could gain something on the platform of the alumni association. Finally, he sent sincere blessings to the alumni and the future development of the alumni association.

The successful establishment of the alumni association is inseparable from the unremitting efforts of the first council members. At the inauguration ceremony, Professor Ai Chunrong, the Associate Dean of the School of Management and Economics and the Associate Dean of Shenzhen Finance Institute, and Professor Zhang Wen, the Assistant Dean of the School of Management and Economics, issued appointment letters to the first council members.

The establishment of the Advisory Committee aims to strengthen the communication and support between the college and the alumni association. It is composed of college faculty and staff and will vigorously support the various works of the council and the alumni association. Professor Wang Cong issued appointment letters to the representatives of the committee.
Unveiling Ceremony
At the unveiling ceremony of the SME&SFI Alumni Association, school leaders, college leaders, main members of the council, and representatives of the advisory committee jointly poured sand into the startup platform, carrying the hope and dreams of the school, college, and alumni, symbolizing that the joint alumni association gathers strength and creates brilliance together.
Speech by the Council Representative
After the unveiling ceremony, the council representative Yu Jia gave a speech on the establishment of the alumni association. She shared the original intention of herself and alumni in preparing for the alumni association and quoted the allusion of "The Orchid Pavilion Gathering," explaining the importance of alumni gathering. Yu Jia said, "For alumni, the alumni association is not only a platform for gathering resources but also a'spiritual home' for everyone's career. We hope that every alumnus can find a sense of belonging and growth motivation here. Let's work together to light up this map."

The First Sharing Activity of the Alumni Association
EMBA Program - Christal Zhu
After the inauguration ceremony was the first sharing activity of the alumni association. At the sharing session, EMBA alumnus Christal Zhu took "From Quantity to Quality: Is Entrepreneurship Easier or More Difficult?" as the topic, exploring the issues and risks that entrepreneurship may face under the current social and economic background. She emphasized that in the era of economic stock, entrepreneurship requires more refined management, a more in-depth understanding of market demand, and a way of adapting to the economic transformation process to create more competitive products and brands.
School of Management and Economics - Cheng Yuefan
Cheng Yuefan, an alumnus of the 2014 International Business Major of the School of Management and Economics and the current CEO of Shenzhen Hidden Stone Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., took "Generative Artificial Intelligence Version: Impact and Dilemma Caused by Current AI Copyright Protection" as the theme, analyzing the impact and dilemma caused by current AI copyright protection, as well as the engineering thinking of Hidden Stone Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. in solving such problems. At the same time, Cheng Yuefan also took his personal experience as an example to share his insights in the professional field of intellectual property.
Post-meeting Communication
After the sharing session ended, alumni, professors, and teachers still had unfinished conversations and enjoyed communicating with each other. The joint alumni association and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area alumni gathering ended successfully here. This is the end of a gathering but also the beginning of a new journey. Thanks to the efforts and support of all parties, we look forward to more alumni continuing to support the work of the alumni association and making the alumni association thrive.
