Overview
MSc in Data Science is a joint programme launched by School of Data Science and School of Management and Economics, in collaboration with Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data and Shenzhen Finance Institute. With the integration of multiple resources and the efforts of the teachers and students of the programme team, the 2020 graduates of MSc in Data Science harvested an outstanding employment performance.
Both employment rate and employment salary showed an outstanding performance
Among the 2020 graduates of MSc in Data Science programme, 100% of the students received job offers upon graduation, and the average annual salary was RMB 288,000, which exceeded the average salary of graduate students in Guangdong Province by 102.7% and exceeded the counterpart of Shenzhen by 141.7%. (According to the “Southern Talents Annual Salary Survey Report in Guangdong Region” released by Job168 , the average salary of graduate students in Guangdong Province is RMB 11,279 per month, and the average salary in Shenzhen is RMB 9,458 per month.) Among the graduates, the highest annual salary was RMB 680,000, with a median of RMB 278,000. The graduates with annual salary of RMB 200,000 to 680,000 accounted for a total of 70%.
All further studies offers were from well-known universities at home and abroad
Among the 2020 graduates of MSc in Data Science programme, 12% chose to pursue doctoral degrees directly. In this group, two of them chose MPhil-PhD programme in Computer & Information Engineering of School of Science and Engineering, CUHK-Shenzhen. One student chose MPhil-PhD in Finance programme of School of Management and Economics, CUHK-Shenzhen. Other four students were admitted by the Ph.D. programme in Financial Engineering of City University of Hong Kong, Ph.D. programme in Information Systems of University of Maryland, Ph.D. programme in Carbon Market of the University of Sydney, and Ph.D. programme in Accounting of National University of Singapore.
More than half of the graduates chose to work in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
More than half (64%) of the students stayed in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for employment, and 30% of the students were employed in Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou. The above data has shown that as a graduate of MSc in Data Science programme of CUHK-Shenzhen, each student has demonstrated strong competitiveness and attractiveness in the job markets, and has been unanimously recognized by companies and scientific research institutions.
